By the time they were ready to leave my headache had turned into a migraine, complete with nausea and light sensitivity. So upstairs we headed, and I took a very hot bath, while Aminah played near me in the bathroom. I used some peppermint oil, which is very strong, and it did the trick, the headache backed off. After my bath, Aminah took one, less hot, and we played singing games where she kept a drum beat with a stick on the side of the tub, and when she stopped, I had to stop (like musical chairs, only with singing). We kept switching songs and it was great fun. Then I read to her (she LOVES to take baths) before getting her out.
I put on a fresh shirt and found the missing Smart Wool sock that we couldn't find before our trip! Aminah and I had done wash together, and I counted both socks before they went into the dryer and we looked through all the clothes, shaking them out and couldn't find it. We only have 2 pair, and I wanted them for our snowy trip. It was statically clinging itself to the inside of my shirt--and wouldn't be shaken off, I needed to peal it off. I was very excited, as they are the best socks for cold weather. And Aminah hates socks, so when I get them on her, I want to make them really count. It was really nice after dealing with a day long headache, to find Aminah's missing sock and feel grateful for the rest of the day and evening.
Here's some of my knitting from yesterday.

I know, I know, it's less complicated than knitting socks, and some of you maybe used to all the needles in your way when knitting in the round, but I'm just starting to get used to all the sticks. And yes, I am enjoying learning something new. I remember when I first started crocheting and I couldn't see where the stitches were to put new ones in. I just kept at it, poking my hook wherever I could and kept making crooked scarves (that I wore because I didn't mind the crookedness), until one day, mid-scarf, when I saw them! My scarf went from crooked and misshapen to straight and true. I've seen them ever since. So I have to assume that the same will be for knitting. I will keep at it until one day when my stitches are uniform, and knitting in the round will feel comforting.
And here's a picture of the demolished gingerbread house:
